Green, quiet, safe: Our Promenade

The Münster Promenade is being used more and more intensively. As beautiful as it is, there are times, especially during rush hour, when cyclists need to be very focused. A cost-effective green center line could help guide bicycle traffic into more orderly lanes and increase safety.

Bicycle traffic in Münster is growing year after year. At the same time, e-bikes and e-scooters have led to a greater variety of speeds on the Promenade. Riding styles also range from leisurely to fast-paced. During rush hour, this can lead to stressful situations, near-misses, and a heightened sense of insecurity.

A center line could help encourage people to stay to the right and be more considerate of one another, regardless of whether they are traveling slowly or quickly. To ensure the Promenade retains its unique character as a green ring and does not feel like a road, the marking is intended to be green.

This would allow cyclists to continue traveling quietly and cleanly, while also being more relaxed and safe. The green center line would thus be another element of Münster as an attractive cycling city.

The funding of up to 5,000 euros is to be used for the implementation of the green center line on the Promenade.
