Do you see a problem in Münster that you just can't let go of? Then join the Impact Ideation Lab and work with others to develop a solution that can make a real difference.
In the Impact Ideation Lab – Your idea for Münster committed people from Münster come together to tackle specific challenges facing our city. Whether you are a student, a professional, a volunteer, or retired: what matters isn't your resume, but your desire to help shape the future of Münster.
Over a six-week program, you will work with an interdisciplinary team to turn a specific challenge into a viable initial solution. You will receive support from experts and gain access to contacts in local government, business, and the community.
Three focus areas – many possibilities
The focus is on three key areas that are shaping Münster:
🌱 Green City
How can Münster become climate-resilient? We are looking for ideas related to climate adaptation, biodiversity, sustainable mobility, and energy.
🤝 Migrant Potential
How can we break down barriers and make it easier to access jobs, networks, and advice? How can qualifications and experience be made more visible?
💡 Social Innovation
How can new ideas improve life in Münster – for example, regarding loneliness, social inclusion, or neighborhood life?
Find out what specific challenges lie behind this at the Kick-off on September 28th. There, you will get to know the issues and team up with others. You don't need to bring a pre-formed team or have a solution idea ready yet.
From challenge to solution
The program will guide you step-by-step through six workshops:
- 09/28/2026: Kick-off & exploring the challenges
- 10/05/2026: Teambuilding – getting started together
- 10/12/2026: Creative thinking – from problem to vision
- 10/19/2026: MVP – developing the first testable version
- 10/26/2026: Validation – testing and refining
- 11/02/2026: Business Model Canvas – is the solution sustainable in the long term?
- 11/09/2026: Pitch training – getting straight to the point
Things get serious at the end: On December 15, 2026 you will present your solution at the public pitch event at the B-Side by the harbor in front of an audience.
It’s not about presenting the perfect business idea. It’s about turning a real challenge into a viable solution with a concrete implementation perspective .
What you bring to the table
You don't need any prior knowledge or startup experience. What matters is your willingness to
- truly tackle a problem in Münster,
- collaborate openly with others,
- talk to people who know the challenge from their own experience,
- continue working on your idea between workshops,
- and bring your solution to the stage at the end.
In return, you will receive methods and support that will help you well beyond the program – from problem analysis and creative techniques to MVPs and validation, all the way to business models and pitching. You will also become part of an alumni network that continues after the program ends.
