Because the ideas are not abstract.
They come directly from the everyday lives of people in MĂĽnster. From real observations. Real needs. And a genuine desire to shape things.
‍
Three examples that illustrate this particularly well:
‍
🎤 Servatiiplatz as a Stage for Encounters
A central location in Münster, currently rarely used for lingering, could become a vibrant meeting point: an open stage as a platform for culture, exchange, and spontaneous encounters. Low-threshold, accessible to all – and with the potential to transform a "pass-through place" into a place of connection.
‍
🌡️ Making Heat Visible – and Enabling Concrete Action
An app makes urban heat islands in Münster visible in real-time. It warns of high heat stress and simultaneously presents solutions: Where is drinking water available? Where are shaded paths? Where can I cool down? An idea that makes climate adaptation tangible – and directly supports everyday life.
‍
🤝 AlteJungeTreff:
Encounters that truly connect. A platform brings young migrant women together with elderly women living alone – uncomplicated, safe, and on equal footing. The goal is not a formal program, but genuine exchange: language, life experience, perspectives. An answer to loneliness – and at the same time a contribution to greater social cohesion.
‍
These examples show:
👉 The ideas are concrete
👉 They address real challenges
👉 And they have the potential to noticeably change Münster
‍
And that's precisely the idea behind Open Innovation: The best solutions don't just emerge within organizations – but within the urban community.
‍
‍
👉 What happens next?
‍
🔎 Phase 1: Review
Our expert jury is currently evaluating all submissions based on the participation criteria – with a clear focus on feasibility.
‍
🗳️ Phase 2: Public Voting (starting May 20th)
The eligible ideas will be published – and you can help decide which projects make it to the final.
‍
🏆 Phase 3: Pitch Event on July 1st, 2026
The best ideas from the categories Migrant Potential, Green City, and Social Innovations will take the stage and pitch live.
‍
‍
What's particularly important to us is:
Even ideas that don't make it to the pitch competition won't be lost. They will be passed on to the city administration – because every good idea deserves attention.
‍
What we're already seeing:
MĂĽnster doesn't just have ideas. MĂĽnster has people who want to make a difference.
‍
‍
👉 Now it's up to you:
Stay engaged. Vote. Discuss. Support the ideas.
Because the future of this city isn't created just anywhere.
But right here – together.
